The Five Types of Visibility

Ambrose Andreano

There are, as I see it, multiple distinctions in the “visibility” of human persons. Visibility can be with regards to:

  1. That which is physically perceived externally to the self through bodily senses, and is physically present before the senses (Ie: seeing bodily persons in the same room)
  2. That which is physically perceived externally to the self through bodily senses, and is iconographically present before the senses. (Ie: Seeing persons projected through a physical medium, such as a Skype chat/witch of Endor. Present in person but not in physicality)
  3. That which is spiritually perceived externally to the self, and is iconographically present before the conscious mind (Ie: mystical visions)
  4. That which is spiritually perceived internally within the self,  iconographically present before the unconscious mind (Ie: dreams)
  5. That which is spiritually perceived externally to the self, iconographically absent before the conscious mind (Ie: “seeing” the spirit of Elijah in John, or the spirit of Christ in His followers).
Mysticism
The Furnace of God
Hellfire should not in every sense be thought of as being below us, for no man can ascend to heaven without first going, in some sense, through hell.

Mysticism
On the Lion and the Lamb
The mystical theology of the text is to “hear” the roar of a lion, only to “turn and see” a slain lamb as the source.

When The Intellectual Speaks In Tongues
There are two kinds of intellectuals: one who speaks in ‘tongues’ and one who speaks with ‘understanding.’
